The operation of the first phase of the Azadi Street project, as one of the important urban projects, will be presented to citizens by the end of next month. This project, which is being implemented along Azadi Street from Azadi Square to Tehranpars Crossroad, aims to improve safety and traffic conditions on this busy route.
Project Implementation Details
Mohsen Doodangeh, the mayor of District 9, emphasized the importance of this project, stating that the improvement and safety of the route for electric buses and BRT are on the agenda. However, the presence of multiple urban facilities along the route has caused delays in the project's execution, leading to an apology from Alireza Zakani, the mayor of Tehran, to the citizens.

The contractor for this project is currently carrying out construction work and is using two shifts to expedite the process. However, issues such as the presence of underground infrastructure and facilities along the route have slowed down the project's progress. Currently, operations from Azadi Square to Behboudi Street have reached the stage of completion of excavation and drilling, and the installation of elements and flower beds will begin soon. Additionally, the wastewater network in this area has also been completed.
Project Benefits for Citizens
With predictions about the completion of the project, its first phase will soon be operational. The previous route of this axis, due to the presence of metal railings, imposed problems such as damage from accidents and high annual maintenance and painting costs on urban management. In the current situation, the installation of concrete flower beds not only reduces the need for constant cleaning but also contributes to the development of green spaces and increases the safety of the traffic route.
