The costs of the U.S. war with Iran have become one of the important and sensitive issues in the United States. Injured soldiers and their families speak of a lack of medical care and problems arising from the war, while ordinary citizens are concerned about the rising costs of their daily lives.

Injuries of Soldiers and Lack of Care

A group of American soldiers injured in Iranian attacks have criticized their medical treatment in interviews. On the first day of March, these soldiers were injured in an attack on the American base in Kuwait. They have reported that the severity of their injuries has not been taken seriously, and there has been no proper planning for their transfer to the hospital and treatment.

One soldier mentioned damage to his veins and stated that his risk of stroke has increased, but the army has not paid attention to this situation. Another soldier spoke of waiting four months for his MRI results and mentioned that a shrapnel had been removed from his head.

Financial Costs of War

Alongside the injuries of soldiers, the economic costs of the war are also weighing heavily on the people of America. A reporter from a newspaper in Salt Lake City, Utah, estimated the cost of the war with Iran at $2,142 per household. This amount includes the increase in the prices of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, which has added an average of $785, $487, and $126 to household expenses, respectively.

Other estimates indicate that the share of the people of Utah in military and operational costs also amounts to $744. These figures are just a glimpse of the heavy financial burden that the war places on the people, and it seems that the actual costs may be even higher.

Moreover, journalists who have examined the human and economic dimensions of the war have concluded that future wars may take place in a digital form and depend on technological infrastructures. Kit Monroe, a columnist for Fox News, pointed out the dangers of attacking digital infrastructures in the countries along the southern Gulf and emphasized the need to protect these facilities.

Ultimately, this crisis, alongside the existing problems in addressing the needs of the injured and the rising costs of living, has created serious challenges for American society. The fact that war has become a sensitive and serious issue for the people highlights the need for immediate attention and action.
