Mohammadkhani, the spokesperson for Tehran Municipality, addressed the consequences of the approval of the population control plan in Tehran and Alborz province during his recent press conference. He pointed out the negative impacts of this plan on the construction industry and called for a review of past decisions by policymakers, expressing hope that the Islamic Consultative Assembly would also take action in this regard.

Negative Impacts on Dilapidated Areas

Mohammadkhani continued by referring to the recession in the construction industry in Tehran, stating, "The results of approaches that lead to a recession in the construction industry are clearly visible in the dilapidated areas of the city." He emphasized that this recession has led to serious problems in housing supply and improving living conditions in Tehran. These remarks clearly indicate the municipality's concern about the continuation of this trend, which could exacerbate urban crises.

Some Members of Parliament Disagree

Although Mohammadkhani urged some members of the Islamic Consultative Assembly to take action in this regard, he also noted that some representatives have clearly expressed their opposition to this resolution. This issue indicates serious concerns among representatives regarding the consequences of this plan on people's lives and urban infrastructure.

The spokesperson for the municipality also referred to the municipality's agreement with some aspects of this plan, especially regarding the construction of the metro in surrounding cities like Parand, emphasizing that the municipality is seeking to improve access and public transportation in these areas. This position of the municipality reflects its efforts to coordinate with the growing needs of the population and facilitate citizens' mobility.

Challenges and Solutions

Despite the criticisms and concerns, Mohammadkhani emphasized that Tehran Municipality is always striving to respond to citizens' needs in the best possible way. He suggested that policymakers should take a closer look at past experiences, learn from previous mistakes, and seek to create effective solutions to existing problems.

It seems that the approval of this plan will bring serious challenges for Tehran, especially for the dilapidated areas of the city. While the municipality and some members of parliament are trying to find solutions to improve living conditions in Tehran, there is concern that incorrect decisions may lead to further recession and a decline in the quality of life in this city.
