Tehran Municipality has taken steps to plant native trees in Chitgar Forest Park as part of its efforts to protect the environment and revive green spaces. Specifically, for every tree that is cut down, 3 to 10 new native trees will be planted. This initiative is part of broader efforts to preserve biodiversity and create sustainable green spaces in the capital.

Adding 30,000 Saplings to Chitgar Forest Park

As part of this program, Tehran Municipality plans to add 30,000 saplings to Chitgar Forest Park. These saplings include various species of native trees known for their adaptability to the region's climatic conditions. This initiative not only helps increase the greenery of the park but also contributes to preserving and strengthening the local ecosystem.

Irrigation with Treated Wastewater and Water Resource Management

One notable aspect of this program is the use of treated wastewater for irrigating forest parks. This approach helps reduce water consumption and optimally manage water resources. Using treated wastewater as a new water source aids in preserving groundwater and reducing pressure on natural water resources. This is particularly important in light of the increasing water crisis in the country.

With these actions, Tehran Municipality not only helps improve the air quality of the capital but also creates new opportunities for establishing suitable green spaces for residents and visitors. Native trees, due to their adaptability to the environment, require less care and water resources and can serve as a sustainable solution to environmental challenges.

It is hoped that these actions will raise public awareness about environmental protection and the importance of native trees. Additionally, this program could serve as a model for other counties and regions in the country. Given the climate changes and existing challenges in nature conservation, such initiatives can have a positive impact on future generations.
