- White flour: 1.5 cups
- Baking powder (or baking soda): 0.5 teaspoon
- Salt: 0.5 teaspoon
- Butter (softened at room temperature): 0.5 cup
- Sugar: 1 cup
- Egg: 1
- Vanilla: 1 teaspoon
- Tahini: 0.5 cup
- White sesame: 0.5 cup
How to Make Tahini Cookies
Take the butter out of the refrigerator about 30 minutes before you start working so it reaches room temperature. Then, place the softened butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla in a bowl and beat with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes until a completely soft, light, and uniform mixture is obtained. Next, add the tahini and mix again.
In a separate bowl, mix and sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Then, gradually and gently add the dry ingredients to the cookie mixture in several stages. Use a spatula or the slow speed of the mixer to combine; just mix until the ingredients are uniform. Overmixing the flour will make the cookies tough.
Place the prepared dough in a container with a lid or cover the bowl with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius to warm it up completely.
Line the baking tray with parchment paper. Take a piece of dough the size of a walnut and shape it into small balls with your hands. Place the balls on the tray with at least 5 centimeters of space between them. Put the tray in the preheated oven and bake the cookies for 18 to 20 minutes. When the edges of the cookies turn slightly golden, remove the tray from the oven and let the cookies rest for a few minutes on the tray.
This delicious cookie can also be made with variations in the ingredients. For example, you can make cookies with tahini and grape syrup or a diet cookie with date syrup. Additionally, adding walnuts to the dough can give the cookies a crunchy and delightful texture.
