Special discounts for using Tehran Municipality sports facilities, especially for various social groups, were recently announced in a meeting attended by senior officials in this field. In this meeting, hosted by the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization, Asghar Jalalian, Deputy for Human Rights and International Affairs of the Ministry of Justice, and Hossein Ovajaki, Head of the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization, elaborated on the new programs.
Diverse Discounts for Social Groups
This program includes special discounts for the families of martyrs, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and seniors over 65 years old. Additionally, Basij members, schools and universities, some sports federations, and municipality employees will receive a 50% discount. For individuals with specific illnesses and those with heart problems, this discount reaches 80%. Overall, the sports tariffs in these centers are about 40% lower than government rates.

In this meeting, there was also an emphasis on using electronic web kiosks for registration and service receipt. This initiative not only facilitates the service delivery process but also helps reduce in-person visits and cash payments.
The Role of Sports in Preventing Social Harm
Abdulmajid Rahmani, Secretary of the Monitoring and Surveillance Center for Social Harm in Tehran Metropolis, emphasized the importance of sports in preventing social harm, stating: "Sports can play a significant role in increasing social participation and public health." He added that it is essential for the Sports Organization and other urban management entities to synergize more effectively to make the best use of existing capacities.
Hossein Ovajaki, Head of the Tehran Municipality Sports Organization, also pointed to the need for software transformation in urban management, stating: "Sports is a tool that can help enhance social vitality and prevent social harm. Therefore, our programs in the Sports Organization should be pursued with this approach." He also mentioned the role of coaches in educating the younger generation, noting that sports environments provide a suitable space for teaching social and athletic skills to children and adolescents.
In conclusion, it was emphasized that given the economic conditions of families, the municipality aims to facilitate access to sports facilities for all segments of society by offering these discounts. The main goal of this program is to increase citizens' participation in sports activities and, consequently, improve their quality of life.
