Seyyed Mohammad Khatami wrote in a statement on Wednesday about the current international and national situation: Our dear Iran is facing one of the most complex passages in its glorious history during these times. An unequal and unjust war has been imposed by the United States government and the Israeli regime on all economic, social, political, military, scientific, and industrial aspects of the country, and the intertwined constraints and crises resulting from siege, sanctions, and threats have jeopardized the daily lives and even the minimal livelihood of honorable and noble Iranians.

There is no doubt that, by virtue of prudence, we must be more concerned about Iran and the issues and problems of the people than anything else, and alongside emphasizing courageous resistance, we should focus on advancing political solutions that open new horizons.

The Necessity of National Solidarity to Overcome Crises

Khatami added: The expectation of another devastating war, even if not real, or the continuation of a critical and uncertain situation in the country, wears down the real life and mental world of society and reduces the resilience and capacity of the nation against various events. Therefore, we must make the exit from this exhausting and crisis-inducing situation the basis for the determination and solidarity of all branches of the system, political and civil movements devoted to Iran, and all segments of the nation, and assist the esteemed government in breaking the current deadlocks and opening new horizons for the glory of Iran.

A New Voice for Defending Iran

Khatami also noted: Based on the little experience I have in serving the honorable people of Iran, I feel that alongside what is happening on the table of people's lives today, greater threats are looming over our tomorrow and the world around us. The talk of a "clash of civilizations" has emerged, which is a new sign of the intensification of global and regional crises. The U.S. Secretary of State recently spoke in Athens about the clash of the ancient civilizations of Iran and Greece, which has neither scientific credibility nor political legitimacy.

Khatami emphasized that Iran is not just a geographical name, but the birthplace of the oldest civilizations in human history. He urged elites and all citizens to place the territorial, historical, and civilizational integrity of Iran at the center of their intellectual and policy approaches and to convey the voice of this demand and national will to all levels and dialogue capacities in all national and international arenas.
