Seyyed Mohammad Aghamiri, the head of the Urban Development Committee of the Tehran City Council, referred to the importance of implementing the special lane plan for motorcyclists in District 14, stating: "In the past, we proposed a plan aimed at controlling the movement of motorcyclists and cyclists in special lanes." This plan is designed to organize the movement of motorcyclists and ensure the safety of citizens.

The necessity of law compliance by motorcyclists

Aghamiri further pointed to the illegal behaviors of some motorcyclists, adding: "Motorcyclists sometimes ride on sidewalks or against the direction of one-way streets, which poses serious dangers to themselves and others." For this reason, the special lane plan for motorcyclists has been proposed to compel them to comply with the laws. Among these laws is the prohibition of running red lights.

Police supervision over the implementation of the plan

The head of the Urban Development Committee of the Tehran City Council emphasized that the traffic police play a vital role in implementing this plan. Aghamiri said: "Without coordination with the traffic police, it is not possible to implement this plan throughout the city." He also referred to the history of planning for the pilot implementation of this plan, adding: "If the plan is successful and after conducting assessments, this lane will be implemented in other streets, especially in the central part of the city."

Aghamiri also pointed to the dangers posed by the entry of motorcyclists into tunnels, stating: "The police cannot be stationed at the entrance of all tunnels, but in cases like the entrance of the Tohid Tunnel, the police are present during busy hours and control the entry of motorcycles." He emphasized that motorcyclists must adhere to safety measures themselves and avoid entering tunnels.

Given the increase in the number of motorcyclists in Tehran and the challenges related to their movement, this plan could help reduce accidents and improve traffic safety. Aghamiri expressed hope that with the cooperation of the police and compliance with the laws by motorcyclists, this plan would succeed and lead to greater safety on the streets of Tehran.
