Hasan Izanloo, the operator of Line 4 of Tehran Metro, announced the improvement in safety and speed of train traffic on this line. The replacement of a double crossover instead of a simple crossover at Shahid Kolahdooz terminal has created a positive transformation in the performance of this metro line.

History and Design of the Double Crossover

Izanloo pointed out the initial designs for the installation and operation of the double crossover at Shahid Kolahdooz terminal, explaining that this design was considered from the beginning. However, the first phase of the terminal was put into operation using a simple crossover. Now, after nearly 9 years, the parts of the double crossover that were available in the warehouse, valued at 150 billion tomans, have replaced the simple crossover.

These changes, despite technical and operational complexities, have been realized within 2 weeks with precise planning. Izanloo also referred to other considerations of this project, including the need to update the signaling system and reassemble the third rail of Line 4.

Costs and Economic Impacts

The total costs incurred for this intensive and sensitive operation have been 15 billion tomans. This action not only revived 150 billion tomans of existing equipment in the warehouse but also optimized the maneuvering conditions of trains at Shahid Kolahdooz terminal.

Izanloo further added: "These changes will help increase the safety and speed of wagon transfers in changing rail lines at the terminal and represent a significant added value for this terminal." This improvement in the metro system, especially in the current conditions where the need for more safety and efficiency is felt, can have positive consequences for passengers and operators.

With these changes, it is hoped that the quality of Tehran Metro services will improve day by day and we will witness an increase in citizen satisfaction. Hasan Izanloo and his team have shown that with planning and effort, they can overcome challenges and contribute to the development of public transportation in the capital.
