Seyed Mohammad Aghamiri, in the four hundred and forty-second meeting of the Islamic Council of Tehran, referred to reports in the media regarding a lack of expertise in the purchase of buses, detailing the purchase of 75 metro buses measuring 26 meters. These metro buses are set to be used on the route from Azadi Square to the East Terminal. Aghamiri also complained about the difficulties in clearing two metro buses currently in Bandar Abbas due to wartime conditions.

Details of the metro bus purchase

Aghamiri stated that 30 metro buses have been loaded and will soon arrive in Bandar Abbas, adding that another 30 metro buses will be loaded shortly. He explained that the metro buses, due to having two joints, maneuver much better than 18-meter buses, and this feature increases their efficiency on long routes.

Funding sources and criticisms

Aghamiri clarified that the purchase of the metro buses is funded by municipal resources and taxes collected from the people, and is in no way from oil revenues. He emphasized the increasing volume of criticisms against the Tehran municipality, stating that at one time it was said that electric buses emit smoke, and in this regard, obstacles were created that resulted in only 500 out of the 2,500 desired electric buses being introduced.

Aghamiri stressed that in the current situation where the country is under economic siege, it is necessary to move towards hope instead of destruction. He added that the Tehran municipality is making special efforts during wartime to reduce existing problems, and the people should see these efforts. In his opinion, actions that lead to the destruction of the municipality not only lack good intentions but are also outside of piety.

Call for solidarity and cooperation

Aghamiri concluded by referring to the special conditions of the country and the need for solidarity, urging citizens to move towards cooperation and support for positive actions instead of destruction. He emphasized that in a situation where enemies are seeking to create internal unrest in Iran, vigilance is necessary, and efforts should be directed towards creating unity and solidarity.
