Scott Basset, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, announced in a new message that efforts to isolate Iran's economy have yielded results. Since the beginning of the 'economic ostracism' operations against Iran, he has dispatched representatives to various countries to pressure them to refrain from cooperating with Iran.

Global Efforts to Isolate Iran

Basset wrote on the social media platform X on Saturday, October 4 (September 26), that at his direction, teams have been sent around the world to engage in discussions with various countries and encourage them to take action against the Iranian regime. He expressed hope that these efforts are beginning to bear fruit.

The U.S. Treasury Secretary referred to actions taken as a result of these efforts. According to him, Turkey and Oman have announced the suspension of flights by 'Mahan Air' to their countries, and the United Arab Emirates has also halted all flights of Iranian airlines. Additionally, major commercial banks in Turkey and the UAE have refrained from conducting financial transactions with Iran.

Economic Consequences of War for Iran

Basset further pointed out the economic consequences of war for Iran, stating that these consequences have been so severe that even Iranian leaders have acknowledged them. He mentioned the fall of the Iranian rial to its lowest historical value, saying that this situation reflects the depth of Iran's economic crisis.

In conclusion, the U.S. Treasury Secretary expressed gratitude to the governments of Britain, Turkey, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates and called for further actions to prevent the advancement of Tehran's terrorist agenda. These actions have become particularly significant in the current period of heightened tensions between Iran and the West.

In an article shared by Basset on X, it was noted that John Burke, the U.S. Deputy Treasury Secretary for Terrorism Financing, has traveled to various countries in the Middle East and Europe over the past two weeks. The goal of these trips is to implement a plan that Basset has termed 'Economic D-Day' against Tehran. Reports indicate that the U.S. Treasury has engaged in discussions with over 50 countries in this regard.
