Saudi Arabia has planned to launch a large-scale attack against the Yemenis in the coming days. This operation, supported by Saudi-led forces, is taking shape while the United States has refused to provide military assistance to this country.

U.S. Non-Cooperation with Saudi Arabia

This is not the first time Washington has rejected Saudi requests to join military operations and conduct airstrikes against Yemen. According to published information, U.S. officials have informed Saudi Arabia that they will not take any military action at this time. This stance may change if serious problems arise during the operation.

Khalid bin Salman, the Saudi Minister of Defense, recently contacted U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and briefed him on the details of this operation. Bin Salman once again called for U.S. air support against Houthi targets but was met with a negative response.

Trump's Challenges in the Middle East

A few days ago, Donald Trump, the President of the United States, came close to issuing an order to attack Yemen after receiving a similar request from Mohammed bin Salman, the Saudi Crown Prince, but ultimately decided to refrain from this action. Trump is caught in a conflict between the desire to assist his ally Mohammed bin Salman and the avoidance of entering a new front in the Middle East.

U.S. officials have also stated that the U.S. military is assisting the Saudis in their incursions against Yemen in all areas except direct combat, such as providing intelligence and targeting data.

These developments come as the humanitarian situation in Yemen has severely deteriorated, with millions of people in the country facing serious dangers. Given the long history of conflicts and humanitarian crises in Yemen, any new military operation could have irreparable consequences for the civilians in that country.

In this context, the international community is also concerned about the humanitarian consequences of these attacks and has called for peace and a ceasefire in this crisis-ridden region. Meanwhile, there seems to be a greater need than ever for diplomacy and international efforts to reduce tensions and support the people of Yemen.
