Sadegh Deyaiyan, the director general of the National Meteorological Organization, announced the arrival of a new precipitation system in the country starting today. According to him, last night in the southern part of Sistan and Baluchestan province, the southern heights of Kerman, and the northern and eastern areas of Hormozgan, rain showers accompanied by thunder and strong gusts of wind were observed.
Warning about the dangers of rainfall
Deyaiyan, referring to the occurrence of seasonal showers and the intensity of the rainfall, advised fellow citizens and nomads in the region to avoid settling and traveling along riverbanks and streambeds. He also mentioned scattered rainfall in the heights of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces, adding that these rains could lead to flooding of streets and the flow of surface water.

The director general of the National Meteorological Organization announced that starting Friday, a new wave of precipitation will enter the country from the northwest. This precipitation system will cause increased cloud cover, a drop in temperature, and the onset of rainfall in the provinces of East Azerbaijan, West Azerbaijan, Ardabil, Zanjan, and Kurdistan. The instability will gradually cover the northern slopes of Alborz and the Caspian Sea coast as well.
Effects of dust on air quality
Deyaiyan also referred to strong winds in the east and southeast of the country, stating that these conditions could lead to dust storms, reduced horizontal visibility, and a decline in air quality. According to forecasts, the formation of a new dust mass over Iraq and its transfer towards the border strip will result in a severe drop in air quality index and a hazy sky for the provinces located in the west and southwest of the country.
Behzadi, detailing this system, stated: "During this period, rain showers accompanied by thunderstorms, temporary strong winds, fog, and in susceptible areas, hail are predicted." He also pointed out the dangers arising from these weather changes, adding: "There is a high probability of rising water levels in rivers, flooding of streets, and the flow of surface water. Additionally, lightning strikes and reduced horizontal visibility are other hazards of this system."
The director general of the Meteorological Organization of Mazandaran also emphasized that drivers and travelers should be alert to the possibility of rockfalls in mountainous routes. He stressed: "It is essential to avoid stopping and settling along riverbanks and streambeds." Furthermore, caution while traveling on roads and mountainous routes, avoiding recreational and mountaineering activities, and taking preventive measures should be prioritized.
