Dr. Sajjad Mohammad Ali Nejad, the Deputy for Finance and Urban Economy of the Mayor of Tehran, along with his deputies and the CEO of the Metro Company, announced the resumption of openings in the metro network during a visit to active projects of the Tehran metro. This visit included the mechanized tunneling operations of Line 9 and the first phase of the southern expansion of Line 6.

First Station This Fall

During this visit, Dr. Mohammad Ali Nejad reviewed ongoing projects and specifically mentioned the metro station at the Shrine of Hazrat Abd al-Azim Hasani (AS), which is set to be operational this fall. This station, as the first of three stations under construction on the 5-kilometer route of the first phase of the southern expansion of Line 6, will soon be available to citizens.

Securing Financial Resources for Projects

In this regard, necessary arrangements have been made to secure financial resources for priority projects of the Tehran metro network, especially those that can be opened in the second half of this year. Projects include the preparation of 5 kilometers of the southern expansion route of Line 6 (from the Dolat Abad station to the station at the Shrine of Hazrat Abd al-Azim Hasani (AS)) and the connection of Imam Khomeini Hospital to the Health Defenders station, which are currently underway.

Given the progress made, it is hoped that these projects will reach completion by the end of this year and provide better services to citizens. These actions, especially in the current circumstances, bring new hopes for the improvement of public transportation in Tehran.
