Navid Mohammadzadeh and Reza Attaran in the film 'Grape Seeds' directed by Ebrahim Ebrahimiann, have embarked on a path to represent Iranian cinema at the Academy Awards. This film, produced by Ebrahim Amirian, has been released to the public today, September 20, and seems to be one of the serious options for introducing a representative of Iranian cinema at the Oscars.

Limited Release and Oscar Chances

As the deadline for introducing a representative of Iranian cinema to the Academy Awards approaches, films vying for this list have turned to limited and short-term screenings. According to available information, the film 'Grape Seeds' was shown in one cinema hall, and by the evening of September 20, 144 tickets for its four screenings had been sold. This indicates the audience's attention to this cinematic work.

Alongside 'Grape Seeds', the film 'Land of Angels' directed by Babak Khajehpasha, which has a theme related to the children of Gaza, is also on the list of films being considered for Oscar nomination. These films have been released to the public while the Farabi Cinema Foundation is responsible for introducing a representative of Iranian cinema to the Academy Awards.

Challenges and Opportunities in the Nomination Process

This year, it seems that representatives of the House of Cinema may not participate in the committee for introducing a representative of Iranian cinema to the Oscars due to issues that arose last year. Meanwhile, the Farabi Foundation has announced that the committee members have been almost finalized, and films such as 'Noon Food' directed by Majid Majidi, which is present at the Busan Festival, will not be screened for now due to the potential for receiving an award. If this film manages to win an award, it will directly compete at the Oscars.

Additionally, the film 'The Fox and the Pink Moon' directed by Mehrdad Oskoui will also be among the works representing Iran in the documentary section of the Oscars. This documentary, after receiving significant international awards, has a high chance of competing at the Oscars.

Given these developments, we must wait and see which of these films will succeed in gaining representation for Iranian cinema at the Academy Awards and what their fate will be in this important global event.
