Tochal, this beautiful and green mountain, is now registered as a national natural landscape. Seyyed Ahmad Alavi, the head of the Tourism Committee of the Islamic Council of Tehran, announced this news with pleasure on Thursday afternoon (October 1, 2026) during a visit to the Shahid Khalej Fars Lake complex. He emphasized the need to pay attention to this area as the "tourism hub of western Tehran" and criticized the lack of information in the recreational facilities sector.
Challenges of Tourism Projects
In this meeting, Alavi raised a direct question about the status of the amusement park in the Chitgar complex, saying: "During Mr. Qalibaf's management, the land and investor were identified, but the project has been stalled for years. After 20 years, we have the right to ask why this project is not being executed?" These statements reflect his concern about the status of tourism projects in Tehran, which seem to require more attention and serious decision-making.
He also commented on the "Bamland" complex, stating: "This complex was built by the investing company and had challenges with the municipality. The courage of the mayor of Tehran in resolving this issue and returning Bamland to the municipality was the best possible decision." According to Alavi, the technologies planned for this center have not yet yielded results after 20 years and require serious decision-making.
Tourism Development and New National Registrations
Alavi continued by referring to the status of stagnant projects and explained that part of the Amin Lashkar house was transferred during the fifth term of municipal management due to contractor claims, which has now been reclaimed for restoration after settling the claims. He also announced that the house of Master Nafisi has been fully acquired and the restoration contract for the Chahar Souq market has been signed.
Alongside the good news of the national registration of the "natural landscape of Tochal Mountains," Alavi also reported on his efforts for the national registration of Imamzadeh Shoaib in Kon and the Neferabad house. He mentioned the identification of 9 ancient trees in Tehran, two of which are located in the Kon neighborhood, stating that all these trees have also been registered nationally.
This news comes as Alavi has also referred to the establishment of a tourism company by the Tehran Municipality, saying: "After years of follow-up, this establishment was approved by the Ministry of Interior on October 1, 2026, and its statute will be announced soon." This action could be an important step towards the development of the tourism industry in Tehran and help attract more tourists.
Alavi also pointed to the municipality's actions in controlling prices in the fruit and vegetable markets and Citizen stores, emphasizing that "eliminating intermediaries comes at the cost of reducing the municipality's direct income, but it protects people from severe fluctuations in food prices." These statements reflect the municipality's efforts to uphold citizens' rights and create a more stable economic environment.
