Mansour Puryan, the head of the Livestock Suppliers Council, reported a 30% growth in the supply of livestock and red meat compared to the same period last year and said: "Despite two weeks having passed since the beginning of autumn, the increase in livestock supply indicates an improvement in domestic production."

Increase in Livestock Births and Prices

Puryan, referring to reports regarding livestock births in the southwest of the country, added: "The occurrence of multiple births in this region indicates that the trend of livestock births is accompanied by favorable conditions." He announced the new prices for red meat, stating: "The price of each kilogram of light fattened livestock is between 680,000 to 720,000 tomans, lamb between 490,000 to 550,000 tomans, and calves weighing 400 to 450 kilograms between 670,000 to 710,000 tomans." Additionally, the price of each kilogram of cattle is set between 500,000 to 550,000 tomans and buffalo between 550,000 to 600,000 tomans.

Competitive Pricing and Production Capacities

Puryan emphasized that diversity in supply has led to competitive pricing, stating: "Currently, we are witnessing an increase in the fattening rate of light livestock compared to last year, which can ultimately lead to an increase in the population of meat-producing livestock." He also announced that the population of light livestock in the country is about 68 million heads, heavy livestock is 5.5 million heads, and native calves and cows are 1.5 million heads.

The head of the Livestock Suppliers Council discussed the impact of imports on market regulation, saying: "Although there has been no significant change in consumption patterns in high-consumption centers, there are consumption restrictions in households. However, importing meat under current conditions and considering currency fluctuations has less economic viability and can affect the competitive market environment."

Puryan expressed optimism about the country's red meat production capacity, adding: "It is expected that in the second half of the year, production levels will reach desirable figures." He stated that the country's monthly need for red meat is between 58,000 to 60,000 tons and said: "If monthly production reaches about 50,000 tons, it can create conditions for bringing supply closer to demand and establishing stability in the market; although during special occasions, the country's need for red meat increases to about 70,000 tons."
