The management of street vendors' activities on 15 Khordad Street and the surrounding area of Tehran Market will be organized from 8 AM to 9 PM. This decision was made following the demands of market traders and the review of issues arising from the activities of street vendors. Mohammad Mehdi Azizi, CEO of the City Guard and Urban Protection Company of Tehran, provided explanations on this matter in a meeting attended by the Deputy of Urban Services and the Mayor of District 12.

New Measures for Organizing Street Vending

Azizi stated that from around August 20, the implementation of the street vendor organization plan has begun in collaboration with responsible agencies. In this regard, more than 100 law enforcement personnel and about 100 members of the District 12 municipality and staff from the City Guard and Urban Protection Company are participating in this project. The goal of this organization is to maintain urban order and provide a framework for the livelihood activities of vendors within a specified time.

Differences in the Economic Conditions of Vendors

The CEO of the City Guard and Urban Protection Company pointed to the differences in the economic conditions of individuals active in this area and said: Some individuals have turned to street vending due to livelihood problems and it is necessary to distinguish between these groups. In this context, the necessity of preserving public rights must also be considered.

Azizi also announced changes in the composition of the forces stationed in the area and stated that in collaboration with the management of District 12, a review of human resources and transfers at various managerial and executive levels have been carried out. These actions are taken to stabilize order and prevent the return of past issues.

Supervision and Dealing with Violations

Furthermore, Azizi referred to the existing supervisory mechanisms for evaluating the performance of municipal and law enforcement personnel and emphasized that in case of violations by the officers in implementing the plan, legal action will be taken. He also noted that the goal of organizing 15 Khordad Street is not merely to temporarily collect the stalls, but to establish long-term order and protect the rights of traders and citizens as well.

Thus, with the new measures, it is hoped that both urban management and order in Tehran Market will be maintained, and the livelihood conditions of street vendors will be managed in a way that ensures security and peace for all.
