John Kerry, former U.S. Secretary of State, in an interview with Christiane Amanpour of CNN, warned of the possibility of renewed warmongering by Donald Trump, the President of the United States, against Iran. Expressing concern about the current situation, he said: "Unfortunately, the situation is so unpredictable that almost anything could happen."
Warning About the Start of Military Attack
Kerry further emphasized that starting a military attack, especially after the U.S. midterm elections, would be a big mistake. He stated that this action would not only fail to bring the Iranians to the negotiating table but would likely push them further away. These concerns arise as tensions between the two countries have significantly increased, and any military action could have serious consequences for the region and even the world.

Criticism of Trump's Withdrawal from the JCPOA
Kerry also referred to Trump's withdrawal from the nuclear agreement JCPOA and asked him why, if he truly intended to change and improve the situation, he did not propose any negotiations. Criticizing Trump's approach in recent months, he said: "He quickly entered into war with a set of false assumptions that have made life more expensive and dangerous for people around the world." These statements reflect Kerry's dissatisfaction with the current U.S. government's approach toward Iran.
Need for Genuine Diplomacy
The former U.S. Secretary of State stated: "You cannot bomb the way to build a bomb." He emphasized the importance of genuine diplomacy and meaningful engagements, saying: "Real diplomacy can have several paths at the same time: one more public and another much more private, with clear coordination." These statements indicate that Kerry believes that serious dialogue and interaction with Iran are necessary to reach an effective agreement.
Kerry also pointed to the complexities of the Middle East and the negative impacts that wars and tensions have had on it, stating that achieving an agreement better than before may not be easy, but it is possible through cooperation and diplomacy. As an experienced diplomat, he remains hopeful that the U.S. can reach an agreement that benefits all parties involved.
