Ismail Baqai, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reacted in a press conference to the claim made by Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, that "Iran has missed several opportunities for an agreement." He stated that the distortion of historical facts cannot erase the reality of America's repeated breaches of commitment from the public's mind, emphasizing that Americans have repeatedly failed to adhere to their commitments regarding the nuclear agreement.

America's Breaches of Commitment and Its Impact on Regional Security

Baqai, referring to America's repeated betrayals, including the unilateral withdrawal from the nuclear agreement in 2018 and the destruction of diplomatic processes and military aggression against Iran during negotiations, held this country responsible for the existing insecurity in the region and its economic consequences in America and the world. He stated: "Projection and vacillation cannot overshadow the demands of the American and global public for holding accountable those responsible for the illegal war and the committed crimes."

Iran's Response to America's Proposals and Efforts for Regional Security

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs continued by answering a question about the latest developments in Iran-U.S. negotiations, stating: "The considerations and conditions of the Islamic Republic of Iran for ending the imposed war on all fronts and restoring security to the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz have been clearly and decisively articulated." He also noted that a necessary response to the proposals from the other side will be provided through mediators. Baqai emphasized: "Message exchanges between Iran and the U.S. are conducted through mediators."

Furthermore, Baqai referred to the diplomatic processes related to commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, stating: "The importance of shipping security in the Strait of Hormuz, which has unfortunately been disrupted due to America's malice, is certainly more significant for the Islamic Republic of Iran than for any other party." He added that Iran, in consultation with Oman, has spared no effort to restore security to the Strait of Hormuz.

Baqai also noted: "The consultation process between Iran and Oman has been progressing well, and both sides have agreed on the geographical coordinates of safe routes for back and forth in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as how to reflect the issue at the relevant international reference, which will hopefully be done soon."

Efforts to Strengthen Trust in the Region

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to a question about the possibility of a joint meeting between Iran and Oman with other Gulf countries, said: "Iran will continue its efforts to strengthen trust and interaction among the countries of the region." He concluded by emphasizing: "Defenders of the homeland in both diplomacy and the field are determined and steadfast in defending the integrity of Iran and securing the national interests and security of our country."
