Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry, announced during the eighty-first session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York that the Islamic Republic's conditions have been communicated to the United States through Qatar. According to him, the goal of this interaction is to end the war on all fronts, stop attacks and the U.S. maritime blockade, lift the economic war, and release Iran's assets.

Diplomatic Meetings in New York

During this important trip, Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran, along with a delegation including Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister, and other officials, attended the United Nations General Assembly. Pezeshkian, who is participating in this meeting to defend the positions of the Islamic Republic and the demands of the Iranian people, is scheduled to deliver his speech on Wednesday, September 23, New York time.

Baqaei also referred to the meetings of Araghchi and the Iranian delegation with the American side, stating: "This interaction has clearly and explicitly been conducted through Qatari mediation." He added that the Iranian delegation has clearly conveyed its views and conditions to the American side.

Response to Trump's Statements

The spokesperson for the Islamic Republic's Foreign Ministry also referred to statements made by Donald Trump, the former President of the United States, describing them as stemming from desperation and weakness. He emphasized that threats of military action from one country are an acknowledgment of the nature of the current U.S. administration and indicate the commission of international crimes.

At the same time, Steve Witkoff, Trump's special representative, also reported on extensive negotiations with representatives of the Islamic Republic. He wrote in a post on the social media platform X that mediators have been shuttling between the two sides throughout the day, and constructive negotiations have taken place.

These developments come as the movement of ships through the Strait of Hormuz has recently decreased. According to reports, on Tuesday, three cargo ships passed through the Strait of Hormuz, showing a decrease compared to the previous day. On average, 15 cargo ships pass through this waterway daily.

Finally, Baqaei emphasized that the positions and views of the Islamic Republic regarding regional security and diplomatic conditions have been clearly conveyed to the American side during this trip, and there is hope that these interactions will lead to a reduction in tensions and the finding of diplomatic solutions.
