The largest central processing unit in the country, known as "CTEP", has now achieved a nominal capacity of 320,000 barrels of oil per day. This center is one of the key infrastructures of the National Iranian Oil Company in the West Karun fields and has been designed and implemented to create sustainable capacity in processing, transporting, and stabilizing crude oil from the South Azadegan field and other neighboring fields.

CTEP's Key Role in the Oil Industry

The CTEP project acts as a connecting link between the production and development phases of West Karun and plays a key role in achieving sustainable and responsible oil production from shared fields. This project is considered the main artery for processing and transporting oil from West Karun, and its importance extends beyond the South Azadegan field, providing a platform for increasing production from other fields in the region.

Now, with the completion and commissioning of four oil processing trains at this center, the processing capacity has reached 320,000 barrels per day. This success has been achieved thanks to the efforts of the project specialists and staff, as well as the cooperation of the employer and contractors. The third oil train was commissioned on March 19, 2025, and reached stable production on May 13, 2025. Additionally, the fourth train was commissioned on December 21, 2025, and reached stable production on December 24, 2025.

Significant Advances in Construction and Commissioning

The completion of the construction phases of the first and second trains at this processing center began in February 2026 and continued under wartime conditions. Pre-commissioning and commissioning activities have also begun with the capability to receive oil for processing. With the approval of a four-day production halt, the integration of control and safety systems of the first and second processing trains with the third and fourth trains was completed, and on October 11, 2026, the processing capacity of 320,000 barrels of oil at this center was achieved.

Hamid Reza Taghafi, CEO of Petropars Group, pointed out the importance of this processing center in the development of West Karun, stating that this unit is a key infrastructure for the development of West Karun and can play an important role in the transportation, processing, and stabilization of oil in this region. Furthermore, with the completion of the relevant units, it will be possible to send 200 million standard cubic feet of associated gas daily to NGL3200.
