Phase 11 of South Pars, as Iran's most border-sensitive and strategic gas block in the Persian Gulf, is on the verge of achieving a historical record in gas production by utilizing domestic capacities and the efforts of engineers. The development operations of this phase, which had been stalled for years due to the exit of international companies, have now reached a decisive stage.

Unprecedented Development in Phase 11

With the completion of technical operations on the last well of offshore position B, the gas extraction capacity in this section has approached the nominal ceiling of one billion cubic feet per day. Keyvan Tarighati, the head of the Phase 11 development project, announced success in drilling and fracturing the twelfth well and stated that the trial gas flow has begun. This achievement will not only help reduce the energy imbalance in the country but is also considered a symbol of safeguarding national interests.

Efforts to Achieve New Capacities

Hamidreza Saghaei, CEO of Petropars Group, referred to the increase in gas extraction from platform B and stated that with the addition of the twelfth well to the extraction chain, the gas extraction rate has increased to over 28 million cubic meters per day. The rapid progress in the development of Phase 11, despite numerous challenges including sanctions and security threats, demonstrates the determination and will of Iranian specialists.

Project managers emphasized that in the past 17 months, the number of active wells in this position has increased from 4 to 12, and actual production has reached over 915 million cubic feet. These advancements have been accompanied by complex offshore operations and specialized drilling at sea depths.

Challenges and Successes

Development at position A of Phase 11 has also seen significant progress. With the transfer of the massive jacket and the completion of the offshore deck construction, this project is preparing for initial operation. Masoud Rezaei, a senior marine structures engineering expert, described this process as an engineering marvel under supply chain constraints.

These activities are taking place while the project has faced technical and security challenges. Project officials stated that even during periods when the contractor's site was targeted, construction work did not stop and safety standards were adhered to. This demonstrates the resilience and capability of the country's oil and gas industry in the face of external pressures.

Ultimately, Petropars Group, relying on domestic capabilities, has turned Phase 11 into a driving force for the country's sustainable energy supply. This project is no longer just a symbol of indecision but is considered a successful model for the growth and economic development of the country.
