Ghodratollah Mohammadi, the CEO of Tehran Fire Department and Safety Services, announced the installation of approximately 11,000 hydrant valves in the capital, saying: "We plan to purchase and install 500 new hydrant valves annually to be added to the city's water network." This action is aimed at increasing safety and ensuring water supply for firefighting operations in various areas of Tehran.
Purchase and Installation of New Valves
The CEO of Tehran Fire Department added: "The first phase of purchasing new hydrant valves has recently been completed, and last month 150 hydrant valves were purchased. These valves will gradually enter the system and will be used after installation and connection." According to Mohammadi, the current condition of hydrant valves in Tehran is satisfactory, and with the efforts made, existing shortages will gradually be resolved.

Reduction of Water Theft from Hydrant Valves
Mohammadi addressed the issue of water theft from hydrant valves that had previously caused problems, stating: "Unfortunately, in recent years, instances of water theft from hydrant valves in Tehran have been observed, but with the implementation of shift scheduling and continuous monitoring by firefighting forces, these instances have significantly decreased." This reduction is attributed to the continuous efforts and frequent inspections by firefighting personnel aimed at preserving water resources and enhancing public safety throughout the city.
Plan to Construct Water Reservoirs in Grand Bazaar of Tehran
The CEO of Tehran Fire Department also referred to the plan to construct five water reservoirs in the Grand Bazaar of Tehran, saying: "Unfortunately, this plan has not yet been operationalized, and obstacles from some agencies have delayed its implementation." However, Mohammadi emphasized that the Fire Department has attempted to compensate for part of the water resource needs through the use of hydrant valves.
Safety Requirements for Cranes in Construction Projects
Furthermore, Mohammadi pointed out the safety requirements for cranes used in construction projects, saying: "Cranes used in the city for construction must meet necessary standards and undergo periodic inspections." He stated that if a crane is used in a construction project for three years, it must be controlled and inspected at least every six months to prevent accidents and potential problems.
Given the increase in construction projects and the need for safety in this area, attention to the necessary standards in the use of cranes is essential. Mohammadi announced that the Fire Department will seriously engage in this regard and conduct the necessary oversight.
