The overpass route of Imam Khomeini Highway, located between Shahid Ayatollah Dashtgheib Street and Shahid Nourinayaki Street, was inaugurated this morning with the presence of Mehdi Sadaqati, CEO of the Engineering and Urban Development Organization of Tehran, Mohsen Doodangeh, mayor of Region 9, and other city officials.
Facilitating Citizen Movement with the Opening of 500 Meters of the Route
Mohsen Doodangeh, the mayor of Region 9, announced the inauguration of 500 meters of the overpass at the beginning of the opening ceremony and said: "This action has been taken to facilitate the movement of citizens from the four neighborhoods of Dashtgheib, Imamzadeh Abdullah (AS), Hashemi, and Ji."

He pointed out the impact of this route on reducing traffic congestion in the area, adding: "With the inauguration of this access, citizens who previously had to take alternative routes and circle Azadi Square to enter Imam Khomeini Highway from the northern route can now enter the highway through the overpass and underpass."
It is estimated that this opening will be about 15 percent effective in reducing traffic entering Imam Khomeini Highway in this area and will help improve traffic conditions.
Challenges and Implementation Costs of the Project
The mayor of Region 9 referred to the implementation obstacles of the project, stating: "In executing this section, the acquisition of about 70 small plots, relocation, and the implementation of the wastewater network in the north-south route, as well as high-voltage electricity transmission facilities and channels, were among the challenges ahead."
Doodangeh stated that this section of the project has been executed at two levels, overpass and underpass, and announced the construction cost of this section to be about 1 trillion tomans, adding: "The cost of property acquisition has also been around 1 trillion tomans."
He also emphasized the continuation of the implementation operations of Imam Khomeini Highway, stating: "Given the vastness of this mega project and the emphasis of the mayor of Tehran on the phased inauguration of the completed sections, we are working to prepare the west-to-north route of the highway for inauguration and make it available to citizens by the end of Aban month."
