The inauguration of the first phase of the southern development of Tehran's Line 6 Metro will soon benefit the citizens of Shahr-e Rey with new services from this network. Abbas Fathali-Pour, the executor of Line 6 Metro, informed reporters about the significant progress of this project and announced that this line will soon connect to new stations in southern Tehran.
New Stations Awaiting Inauguration
Five stations, namely Cheshmeh Ali, Ibn Babawayh, Hazrat Abdolazim Square, Eastern Side, and Shahr-e Rey, are planned for this phase of development. The Shahr-e Rey station is particularly noteworthy as it will intersect with Line 1 of the Metro, which will greatly enhance citizens' access to public transportation.

Fathali-Pour also mentioned the completion of the paving and rail-laying operations for the first section of the route, noting that work on the platforms of the first and second stations, which are designed as passing stations, has been completed. Additionally, construction and equipment operations for the Hazrat Abdolazim Square station are underway, demonstrating a serious commitment to the rapid commissioning of this project.
Successful Tests and Technical Progress
The executor of Line 6 Metro reported the successful completion of cold and hot tests of the route in recent weeks. The cold test was conducted to examine the tunnel's gauge, the condition of the rails, the third rail, and the platform boundaries, followed by the hot test with train movement on the route. These successes indicate the necessary readiness for train operation in this section.
Currently, the completion of signaling, telecommunications, radio, and ventilation systems is in progress. Additionally, the ticketing system (AFC) equipment has been prepared, and out of the eight escalators planned, four have been installed, with four more being transported to the project site for installation.
Fathali-Pour also referred to the financial support from the Metro Company management for the completion of this project, stating: "With the measures taken and the necessary financial resources secured, we aim to put the first phase of the southern development of Line 6 into operation by this fall so that the citizens of Shahr-e Rey can also benefit from this section of the Metro network." This news certainly heralds better days for public transportation in Tehran and will help improve the quality of life for the residents of this area.
