The "Welcoming Green September" plan has been initiated to institutionalize the culture of environmental protection among students and families in Tehran schools. This program emphasizes the teachings of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) regarding the necessity of seeking knowledge and highlights the role of urban management in creating a safe, clean, and vibrant environment for the start of the school year.
Objectives of the "Welcoming Green September" Plan
This plan pursues five main objectives: enhancing public awareness and concern among citizens regarding waste management, optimal energy consumption, and urban sustainability; empowering and strengthening community participation and environmental organizations and schools; fostering inter-sectoral synergy among the municipality, education, and NGOs; advocating for social accountability and transparency; and institutionalizing an environmental culture in such a way that this program becomes a sustainable and annual legacy in the cultural calendar of the city.

Implementation and Educational Programs
The target community for this plan includes all Tehran students and will expand to the 22 districts of Tehran in September 2026. Three key executive actions are planned in this regard: holding an educational class titled "Environmental Challenges of Tehran" for schools with environmental houses, organizing painting competitions on the theme of "Green School," and conducting brainstorming sessions with the managers of schools with environmental houses. Additionally, in each district, one environmental house in a school will be equipped with environmental items.
Regional programs, based on the attached schedule, include two main axes: holding welcoming ceremonies for September at the environmental houses of selected schools and conducting brainstorming sessions with the officials of these houses. In some areas, special programs such as honoring the winners of the "House of Life" painting competition will be implemented.
The Role of Inter-Sectoral Collaborations
The "Welcoming Green September" program, as an important cultural-social event, provides an opportunity for urban revitalization, strengthening collective identity, and promoting responsible behaviors, especially among students and families. The General Directorate hopes that with the active participation of stakeholders, this event will be held magnificently and establish a sustainable legacy of inter-sectoral collaborations in enhancing public culture and environmental protection.
