Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad Aghamiri, the head of the Urban Development and Infrastructure Committee of the Tehran City Council, criticized the uncertainty surrounding the plan for the revival of the capital's gardens during the 438th council meeting and announced that this plan, due to not reaching the council floor, has missed the opportunity to revive over one million square meters of garden space.

The Importance of Reviving Tehran's Gardens

Aghamiri pointed out that more than a thousand garden files with an average area of at least one thousand square meters have been identified, noting that these gardens could help preserve Tehran's green space with the approval of the garden revival plan. He added: "Many of these gardens have practically been removed from the maintenance and revival cycle due to the current conditions and the lack of building permits, and their owners are faced with situations that are detrimental to the maintenance of the gardens instead of being motivated to preserve and water the trees."

The Necessity of Transparency in Determining the Fate of Gardens

The head of the Urban Development and Infrastructure Committee of the Tehran City Council emphasized the necessity of transparency in determining the fate of the capital's gardens, stating: "Today, if we are concerned about the reduction of Tehran's gardens, we must have a transparent mechanism to clarify the status of the gardens and the criteria for their identification, so that the owners also face clear regulations." Aghamiri also criticized the failure to bring this plan to the council floor after four to five years of pursuit, addressing the council president and the architecture and urban planning commission, saying: "This plan was approved by the municipality and most council members agreed with it, but unfortunately, it never reached the council floor."

In conclusion, Aghamiri expressed his dissatisfaction with the failure to approve this plan, which could have helped preserve and revive Tehran's gardens, and called for expediting its approval process. This plan could not only help improve the status of the city's green space but also enhance the quality of life for citizens.
