With 86 concerts over eight weeks, the claim of Proms as the largest and most prestigious classical music festival in the world is hard to deny. Have you watched the concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, or tuned in via radio and online? Perhaps you have also attended concerts in cities like Bristol, Sunderland, Gateshead, and Mold.
Our critics loved the exceptional performances by the Berlin Orchestra, John Wilson and the Sinfonia of London, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra with Mira Grazinyte-Tyla, and the exploration and performance of Mahler’s 1st by the Aurora Orchestra. Alongside this, the new music introduced this year, such as the Festen Suite by Turnage with its stunning colors, the bassoon concert by Thea Musgrave which was a delightful experience, and the violin concert by Jessie Montgomery which was truly a breathtaking moment, attracted a lot of attention.
