Hamid Mahbubi commented on the latest status of the flood caused by the El Niño phenomenon in the counties of Makoo and Salmas at 1 PM on Saturday, November 2, and reported extensive damages. According to recorded statistics, 161 people were affected in this incident, and 39 families were impacted by the flood. Unfortunately, three people lost their lives in this flood, and four others were injured.

Status of Salmas County

Mahbubi continued: "In this incident, water was removed from four residential units, and 39 homes suffered damage to their yards or walls. This data pertains to three villages in Salmas County." He referred to the supportive actions of the Red Crescent in these areas and said: "Essential and livelihood items, food packages, blankets, tents, and other necessary supplies were distributed among the affected families."

Relief efforts for the village of Olonlar in Makoo

Hamid Mahbubi also referred to the situation in Makoo County and stated: "Olonlar, a village in the central district of Makoo, was among the areas affected by the flood. In this region, residential units were impacted, and families totaling 24 individuals were involved in this situation." According to him, water was removed from two residential units, and necessary supplies for four families, including 12 people, were provided to them. Since water had not entered the homes of these four families, the necessary supportive and livelihood items, including food, tents, blankets, and carpets, were supplied and distributed to them.

Mahbubi, referring to the main areas affected by the flood in Salmas County, reminded: "The villages of Shakri and Kanyan were among the damaged areas. During this incident, three people, including a 10-year-old girl, a 73-year-old man, and a 45-year-old man, lost their lives."

The CEO of the Red Crescent Society of West Azerbaijan concluded by noting the end of the rescue operations in the affected areas and emphasized: "The operations of the Red Crescent rescue teams have concluded, and subsequently, psychological support teams have arrived in the affected areas to assess the mental state of families and children and to help alleviate the psychological pressures resulting from this incident by implementing recreational programs for children."
