Hakan Fidan, Turkey's Foreign Minister, in a recent interview with the NTV television network, discussed the current state of relations between Iran and the United States and its impact on the region. According to Fidan, negotiations between the two countries have reached a deadlock, and this situation has led to the formation of a broader crisis in the region, especially in Saudi Arabia.
Challenges of Iran-U.S. Negotiations
Fidan pointed out the reciprocal attacks between Iran and the U.S., stating that the situation has become extremely complicated and this issue could extend to the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and Yemen as well. He also referred to Turkey's and other countries' efforts to revive negotiations, saying: "There is a severe lack of trust between the parties. They previously reached an agreement in Pakistan, but faced difficulties in its implementation."

The Turkish Foreign Minister also announced new proposed conditions for reconciliation between the parties and expressed hope that these conditions would be accepted. He warned that otherwise, the economic consequences of this crisis could be very heavy for many countries, including European and Asia-Pacific nations.
Turkey's Concerns Over Saudi Intervention
In another part of his remarks, Fidan referred to the necessity of preventing Saudi Arabia's intervention in the Iran-U.S. dispute. He said: "We are witnessing very dangerous attacks that target the territorial integrity and infrastructure of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia must be sidelined from this equation, as this country is not seeking to intervene in these issues."
He also mentioned the consequences of attacks on energy infrastructure during the Russia-Ukraine war, stating that this situation has created serious challenges for countries like Turkey that are heavily dependent on energy imports.
Fidan also expressed Turkey's concerns regarding statements made by Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, who is trying to convey the impression that Turkey is a threat to Israel, saying: "We are closely monitoring these statements and we know that Netanyahu's aim is to strengthen his political position within Israel."
