Greg Stanton, an associate professor of genetics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Tabriz University, has concluded in a new scientific study that the eye color of infants is influenced by the interaction of genes inherited from both parents. He explained that each individual typically receives one copy of each gene located on the non-sex chromosomes from their father and one from their mother. This indicates that it cannot be said definitively which parent plays a more significant role in determining the eye color of the baby.
Gene Combinations and Their Effects
Eye color is one of the prominent physical traits that is passed down through families and generations. However, what many people do not know is that this trait is not simply transferred from one parent to the child. According to Stanton, the child's eye color is the result of the combination and interaction of gene versions inherited from both parents. This means that both parents equally influence the eye color of their child.

Social and Scientific Implications
These findings are not only scientifically significant but can also have social and cultural impacts. In many cultures, eye color is recognized as one of the beauty traits, and parents may inadvertently have specific expectations for their children based on their own eye color or that of their family. In this regard, awareness that both parents play a role in this process can help reduce social pressures and misconceptions.
Additionally, this research could pave the way for further studies in genetics and inheritance. By examining gene interactions and their effects on physical traits and even some personality characteristics more closely, we can gain a better understanding of how individual and family identities are formed.
