Gholamali Dehghan, in an interview with ISNA, examined the gap between the definition of elitism and the actual status of elites in Iran, discussing the fundamental challenges facing Iranian society. He stated that elites must understand the realities of society instead of living in fantasies.

The Gap Between Elites and the People

Dehghan referred to the duality between the perceptions of elites and the realities of society, considering this one of the reasons for the high emigration of elites from Iran. He emphasized that some elites perform poorly in their interactions with the masses, and there is a need for a change in this approach. This political analyst noted that the elite community must understand that the distance between themselves and the masses can lead to serious harms.

The Necessity of Social Presence of Elites

Dehghan, emphasizing Iran's scientific and human capacities, said: "Iran is a country full of abundant talents" and added that elites should take steps to solve societal problems and participate in social activities. He also referred to prominent martyrs such as Martyr Tehrani-Moghaddam, who achieved military advancements in Iran through their efforts.

He further pointed out the necessity of maximizing the attraction of Iranian elites abroad and stated: "The political system must create an environment for the return and participation of elites." Dehghan emphasized that all Iranians can contribute to the progress of their country, and this should not be limited to a specific group.

The Necessity of Iranian Cohesion

Dehghan, recalling the words of Martyr Soleimani about the necessity of paying attention to all Iranians, said: "We have a history that partly relates to ancient Iran and partly to the Islamic period of Iran." He believes that the integration of these two periods can lead to the beginning of a new era that brings Iran back to its political, cultural, military, and scientific empire.

This political analyst concluded by stating: "To create the conditions for the effective presence of Iranian elites on the global stage, narrow-mindedness and monopolistic tendencies in policymaking must be set aside." He pointed to the capacities of Iranian society and said that if elites connect properly with the masses, they can play a significant role in the development and progress of the country.
