Ghodratollah Mohammadi, the CEO of Tehran Fire Department, announced the allocation of 5 trillion tomans for increasing firefighting equipment at the grand ceremony commemorating Firefighter Day held at Milad Tower conference hall. In this event, he referred to the vital role of firefighters in rescue operations and dealing with incidents, stating: "Firefighters are always present and on the front lines serving the community, embodying selfless service in the toughest conditions and amidst the flames."

Development of Fire Department Capacities

Mohammadi pointed out the capacities of Tehran Fire Department, stating that this organization, with 5,800 dedicated firefighters, 30,000 volunteer firefighters, and 144 active stations, is available to serve the public around the clock. He also announced the recruitment of 40 female firefighters during the current urban management period and considered this action an important step in increasing the presence of women in this organization.

Providing Housing and Welfare for Firefighters

The CEO of Tehran Fire Department further referred to providing housing for firefighters, saying: "From the first day of my responsibility, we have strived to create a great movement for providing housing for firefighters." He proudly announced that the construction of 5,000 residential units specifically for Tehran firefighters is underway to provide a deserving shelter for firefighters and their families.

Mohammadi also addressed the main concerns of firefighters and called for the reduction of the required years for firefighters' retirement from 25 years to 20 years. He emphasized that the issue of benefits for hard and hazardous jobs should be resolved in the bill sent to the parliament.

Safety and Equipment Challenges

The CEO of Tehran Fire Department pointed to the safety status of some government centers and high-risk buildings, calling for more attention to the safety of public places. He urged the mayor of Tehran, who is a member of the government board, to raise this issue in the government board and to pass a resolution to require agencies to ensure the safety of their premises.

Mohammadi also mentioned the challenges related to the import and clearance of specialized firefighting equipment and the costs of customs duties, calling for this issue to be pursued in the government board. He criticized the removal of fire extinguishers from domestically produced vehicles, emphasizing that this issue could have irreparable consequences.

In conclusion, Mohammadi called for immediate action to require automakers to equip vehicles with fire extinguishers to ensure the safety of roads and citizens.
