Euro (Euro) and Emirati Dirham (Dirham) are recognized as two important currencies after the US dollar in the Iranian market. While the dollar remains at the top of currency transactions, the euro has a special place due to economic connections with European countries, and the dirham is widely used in regional trade.

Position of Euro in Global and Iranian Markets

Global statistics show that the euro, as the second most traded currency in the world after the dollar, holds a 28.9% share in global transactions. In contrast, the dollar is present in 89.2% of transactions. The euro, as the official currency of 20 member countries of the Eurozone, plays a significant role in payments, investments, and international financing. In financial markets, the euro-dollar currency pair is considered one of the most important currency transactions.

In Iran, the euro is also one of the main tradable currencies after the dollar. Travel, commercial, and investment demand has made the euro have its specific clientele in the Iranian market. Economic connections with European countries and the use of the euro in international contracts have increased the importance of this currency in the Iranian market.

Role of Emirati Dirham in Iranian Trade

Emirati Dirham is considered one of the most interesting currencies in the Iranian market. Although the dirham does not rank among the major currencies like the dollar and euro in the global currency market, it plays a very important role in Iranian trade. The UAE, as one of the most important commercial and financial centers in the Persian Gulf region, has led to the dirham being widely used in payments and fund transfers in trade with Iran.

In the official market of Iran, the dirham is continuously announced alongside the dollar and euro. This currency is particularly important in commercial payments and travel to the UAE, and at certain times, its demand in the domestic market may increase.

Therefore, for individuals intending to buy banknotes in the Iranian currency market, understanding the applications of currencies and their related needs is much more important than their global ranking. The euro is more related to needs associated with European countries, while the dirham is dependent on regional trade connections. Meanwhile, the British pound and Chinese yuan are also recognized as important currencies in the Iranian market, although their audience is more limited compared to the dollar and euro.

Trade with China has also been growing in recent years, and the Chinese yuan, as the fifth most traded currency in the world, has gained more importance. Given that China is one of Iran's important trading partners, the use of the yuan in domestic transactions may also increase.

Ultimately, although the euro is recognized as the second global currency, in the domestic Iranian market, demand behavior, political and economic conditions, and currency policies can have different impacts on the demand and transactions of currencies. This indicates that understanding the domestic market and its specific needs is of great importance for economic actors and traders.
