On a humid and hot night in Basra, Esteghlal delivered an extraordinary and dramatic performance, defeating Qatar's Al-Shamal, who featured renowned stars like Riyad Mahrez and Baghdad Bounedjah. This victory came in the 91st minute and showcased the effort and determination of the blue-clad players, who, amidst the challenges facing Iranian football in Asia, secured their place in third in the Elite League with this success.
Farahbasi's Brilliance; Esteghlal's Savior in Goal
Esteghlal's goalkeeper, Farahbasi, not only acted as a goalkeeper in this match but also as a complete savior. With several spectacular saves, especially his incredible reaction to Bounedjah's shot, he kept his team in the game during the first half. However, his masterpiece was not limited to his saves; in the 90+1 minute, his long and precise restart surprised Al-Shamal's defense and initiated an attack that led to Esteghlal's goal. Farahbasi demonstrated how a modern goalkeeper can be his team's primary playmaker.

Azadi and Islami; Key Players in Attack
Azadi's presence in the 73rd minute could have been a significant risk for him, but he entered the field with renewed motivation and made tireless efforts. In crucial moments of the game, he headed the ball accurately from Farahbasi's restart to Yasser Asani. Meanwhile, Mohammad Hossein Islami, with his intelligence and composure, provided a precise pass to Asani, putting him in a one-on-one situation. With this performance, Islami proved to be the driving force for the blues in counterattacks.
Yasser Asani; Ruthless Hunter in Attack
Yasser Asani, Esteghlal's number 7, who had little space to shine during the match, brought the Senegalese goalkeeper of Al-Shamal to his knees with a quick start and flawless shot. This goal brought his total in the Elite League to 12, placing him just behind stars like Mahrez and Al-Dosari. Asani showed that he can act as a key player for Esteghlal in critical moments.
Sohraab Bakhtiari Zadeh; Architect of This Great Victory
Alongside the players' performances on the field, we cannot overlook Sohraab Bakhtiari Zadeh, Esteghlal's head coach. With excellent game management and golden substitutions in the second half, he succeeded in defeating Al-Shamal and recorded a streak of 4 consecutive victories against Qatari teams. Bakhtiari Zadeh is now recognized not only as a successful head coach but also as a powerful psychological lever for Esteghlal.
