Facilities for Taxi Drivers
The CEO of the Taxi Organization, while mentioning the price of each Ion taxi, which is 1 billion and 850 million tomans, announced that the Tehran Municipality provides facilities worth 1 billion and 550 million tomans to applicants. These facilities enable drivers to purchase these vehicles by scrapping their old cars without the need for cash contributions.
Rahimi further added that the price of new electric taxis is lower than some existing cars in the market. For example, the price of a Samand is about 1 billion and 900 million tomans, while the price of the Ion taxi is less.
Future Plans of the Municipality for Hybrid Vehicles
He also announced the Tehran Municipality's plan to develop hybrid vehicles and stated that a contract for the purchase of 2000 hybrid vehicles has been signed with a Chinese company. These vehicles will be imported duty-free and through land transport and Imam Khomeini Airport.
Rahimi predicted that the purchased hybrid vehicles would enter the taxi fleet within about a month. He also mentioned that regarding the supervision of school services and possible violations by drivers, the Taxi Organization is solely responsible for issuing permits for vehicle service companies, while the supervision of school services falls under the Ministry of Education. If any violations are observed, citizens can report them through the 137 system.
