Ehsan Zabihzadeh, spokesperson for the country's electricity industry, emphasized the importance of ensuring electricity supply during the winter season, announcing precise planning and 60 operational measures to get through this period. He stressed that thermal power plants, which have a high share in the country's electricity production, supply more than 80% of their electricity through gas fuel. However, to face situations where gas supply may encounter problems, liquid fuel has been considered as a backup fuel.
Status of Liquid Fuel Supply
Zabihzadeh stated that the liquid fuel reserves of power plants are in relatively good condition, similar to last year. He pointed out that colleagues at the Ministry of Oil are working to complete the liquid fuel tanks in the coming days and weeks. These efforts are particularly important as we approach the cold season, which will last about 100 days.

Special Measures for Winter Preparedness
The spokesperson for the electricity industry pointed out that the gas supply infrastructure has been damaged due to enemy attacks, stating that part of the gas supply capacity has been lost compared to last year, and therefore special measures have been considered to get through the winter. He mentioned the 60 operational measures, which include timely repairs of essential power plant units, development of renewable power plants, and optimal use of hydropower plants.
Zabihzadeh also referred to the use of high-efficiency units in thermal power plants and the reduction of diesel consumption in the northern half of the country, saying: "Repairs of the network and main electricity transmission corridors are also being pursued with more attention than in previous years to prevent electricity supply problems."
Need for Energy Conservation
The spokesperson for the electricity industry emphasized that cooperation and participation from various consumption sectors, including government agencies, is very important for energy conservation. He called for public cooperation in this regard, stating: "Every small action in saving energy at all times, especially during the cold season, will be impactful."
Given the planned measures, it is hoped that the country can get through the cold season with minimal repercussions and that electricity supply during this period will be well managed. These actions will not only help ensure electricity supply but can also aid in preserving the country's energy resources.
