Maryam Ardabili, head of the Women and Family Center of Tehran Municipality, announced that the fertility rate in the country has decreased to about 1.3 to 1.4 and that this rate has dropped below one in Tehran. She attributed this decline to infertility issues and stated: "Couples who wish to have children cannot fulfill their dream due to infertility."

Challenges of Infertility Treatment

Ardabili emphasized that infertility is a complex issue, adding: "The difficulties of infertility treatment and its high costs are among the factors that create problems for couples on their path to parenthood." She also pointed to the financial constraints faced by couples, saying: "Many couples are unable to continue their treatment due to economic conditions."

Municipality's Proposal for Financial Support

The head of the Women and Family Center of Tehran Municipality further explained: "We are collaborating with the Healthy City Company of Tehran Municipality to draft a special support package for couples in lower economic deciles. Our goal is to ensure that no individual is deprived of the opportunity to have children due to financial problems."

Ardabili also referred to the activities of the Youth Population Office in this area, stating: "This office has been established in the Women and Family Center since last year and is pursuing issues related to youth population and childbirth."

Drafting this support package is considered one of the important programs of Tehran Municipality, aimed at reducing infertility problems and supporting childless couples. This initiative, especially in the current economic conditions, can help many couples overcome financial barriers and achieve their dream of parenthood.

Ardabili concluded by noting: "Given the current conditions and the low fertility rate in Tehran, this initiative can play an important role in encouraging couples to have children and contribute to improving the country's population situation."
