The death of 148 Iranian motorcyclists since the beginning of 1405 and the recording of 7358 cases of injury accidents have sounded an alarm for the country's traffic community. Colonel Firooz Keshir, the social and traffic culture deputy of Tehran's traffic police, emphasized the necessity of paying attention to the safety of motorcyclists while presenting alarming statistics in this regard.

Accident Statistics and Causes of Mortality

In a report dedicated to the status of motorcycle accidents, Colonel Keshir announced that since the beginning of the current year, 1800 cases of law enforcement regarding motorcyclists have been recorded. He also pointed out that the failure to wear helmets and performing dangerous maneuvers are among the main factors threatening the lives of motorcyclists.

This statistics also refer to the details of accidents. Since the beginning of 1405, 148 people have lost their lives due to motorcycle accidents, and 7358 cases of injury accidents and 11220 cases of damage accidents have been recorded. Colonel Keshir emphasized that the inability to control the vehicle, sudden lane changes, and lack of attention ahead are among the main causes of motorcyclist mortality.

The Cultural Plan "Life Helmet"

Colonel Keshir also announced the cultural plan "Life Helmet" which is implemented to increase the safety of motorcyclists. In this plan, 80,000 helmets have been donated to motorcyclists. This action not only demonstrates attention to the safety of motorcyclists but can also help reduce accident statistics and fatalities.

According to the Tehran traffic police deputy, most accidents occur on highways and during the time period of 4 PM to 8 PM. Additionally, individuals aged 35 to 45 account for 20 percent of the highest fatalities in this statistics. This indicates that more attention should be paid to the safety of this age group and cultural development in this area.

In conclusion, Colonel Keshir noted that covering license plates and manipulating their numbers is no longer just a traffic violation but is considered a crime legally, and violators will face legal consequences. It seems that there is a need for cultural development and increased public awareness in this area to reduce accidents and fatalities among motorcyclists.
