Iran is striving to strengthen its position in the global higher education arena by attracting 320,000 international students. The Chairman of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament stated that, so far, 85,000 foreign students are studying at universities in Iran.

Seventh Development Plan and Student Recruitment

The Chairman of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament said: "Our goal in attracting 320,000 foreign students is to introduce Iran's scientific and cultural capacities to the world and to strengthen international relations in the field of education." This program has been proposed as one of the pillars of sustainable development in the country's educational system and can lead to an increase in the quality of education and research at universities.

Challenges and Opportunities

Although attracting foreign students can contribute to the economic and cultural growth of the country, there are also challenges along this path. One of the most important challenges is providing suitable conditions for the living and studying of these students in Iran. Improving infrastructure, increasing the quality of education, and creating a suitable environment for cultural exchange are among the actions that need to be considered.

The Chairman of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament added: "We must pay attention to the fact that attracting international students is not just about increasing numbers, but the quality of education and services provided to these students must also be enhanced so that they have a positive experience studying in Iran."

The Role of Universities and Educational Institutions

Universities and educational institutions play a crucial role in this regard. They can help attract and retain these students by establishing international collaborations, holding special training courses, and providing advisory services to foreign students. Additionally, creating student exchange programs and joint research opportunities can facilitate this process.

The Chairman of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament also emphasized that we should learn from the experiences of other countries in attracting international students and, by examining their strengths and weaknesses, provide suitable solutions to improve the current situation.

Results of Attracting Foreign Students

According to existing statistics, attracting foreign students can help increase the country's foreign exchange revenues and also lead to the development of the educational tourism industry. This issue can enhance global awareness of Iran's culture and history and contribute to strengthening the country's cultural diplomacy.

In conclusion, the Chairman of the Education and Research Commission of the Parliament expressed hope that with the cooperation of all relevant institutions and the improvement of educational conditions, we can achieve our goals in attracting international students and introduce Iran as a reputable educational destination globally.
