The strict policies of the central bank regarding the exchange rate have become a serious challenge for the development of trade between Iran and Russia. These policies not only create barriers for exporters but gradually push them towards using informal networks and non-transparent intermediaries.

Impact of Currency Policies on Exporters

Kambez Mirkarimi, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, believes that the central bank's interventions in the exchange rate have decreased exporters' motivation to use the country's banking network. This, in turn, leads to the transfer of capital towards intermediary companies and pathways that offer less transparency. In fact, this situation is not only detrimental to exporters but may also lead to a decline in the quality of services and products.

Security and Economic Concerns

Given the current situation, security and economic concerns in this area have also increased. Exporters, facing uncertainty regarding the exchange rate and its convertibility, are forced to take on greater risks. This situation could lead to a decrease in exports and consequently harm the national economy.

Mirkarimi emphasizes that fundamental steps must be taken to support exporters and improve economic conditions. This is not only beneficial for exporters but could also help strengthen trade relations between Iran and Russia. However, if these policies continue, it is expected that we will witness a decline in trade cooperation and an increase in economic problems in both countries.

Need for Fundamental Reforms

Reforms in currency policies and the creation of suitable conditions for trade are among the actions that must be taken swiftly. Mirkarimi believes that if the central bank can adopt a flexible approach based on facilitating trade instead of strict policies, there is hope for improving the economic situation. Otherwise, trade between Iran and Russia will face more challenges.
