Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi, senior advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, recently provided explanations about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and the range of Iran's weapons, reflecting the strategic approaches of this military institution.
The Situation in the Strait of Hormuz and Oil Smuggling
General Naqdi explained that the volume of smuggled oil in this region is very minimal and it cannot be said that this strait is open for such activities. He emphasized that the IRGC will address this issue and added that currently the Strait of Hormuz is closed. However, some individuals are using small vessels to smuggle oil and transfer it to tankers.
Furthermore, General Naqdi stated that soon, a few of the routes that offenders have created by blasting and destroying some rocky paths in the Strait of Hormuz will be blocked. This action will be taken to ensure the security of this strategic waterway and to combat smugglers.
Increasing the Range of Iran's Weapons
In another part of his speech, General Naqdi addressed the issue of Iran's weapons and explained that the limited range of these weapons is not due to technical reasons, but rather relates to the policies adopted by officials and the Supreme Leader. He emphasized that whenever the officials and the Supreme Leader grant permission, the IRGC is ready to increase the range of its weapons according to the needs of the battlefield.
The senior advisor to the Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC further added: "Since our weapons are domestically produced, we can increase their range and power based on the necessities and needs of the battlefield." These statements reflect the IRGC's serious determination to strengthen the military capabilities of the country and respond to potential threats.
Analysts believe that General Naqdi's statements, especially regarding the increase in the range of weapons, could send a clear message to regional and extra-regional countries. Additionally, this issue may impact Iran's relations with neighboring countries and military interactions in the future.
