Badnam has come to an end; a series that not only has a complex and engaging story but also presented two different paths for the audience in its final episode. Simultaneously, Filimo announced that this series, with over 2 billion 300 million minutes of viewing, is recognized as the most-watched Persian series in the history of home entertainment.

Two Endings and Two Narratives for Yalda

In the final episode of Badnam, the audience encounters two different images of Yalda. In one of these images, Yalda gets involved with Ebrahim Veisi, and both fall from the inn. In the other image, a flashback is shown; a place where Yalda stands on the roof of Ebrahim's office, deciding to end her life. But this time, Ebrahim's son stops her, and instead of falling from above, Yalda makes a different choice.

This creative device allows the audience to reflect on the fates of the characters and their choices. However, a different ending cannot cover all the weaknesses present in the narrative. The question arises whether the story needed all the twists and turns throughout the series to reach this point.

Records and Numbers; Transparency in Statistics

In announcing its statistics, Filimo speaks of 2 billion 300 million minutes of viewing, but this number alone cannot be recognized as a valid record. Viewing minutes do not equate to the number of unique viewers or viewing frequency. For example, one viewer may watch an episode multiple times or leave part of it unfinished. Therefore, the total viewing time alone cannot accurately represent the number of viewers of the series.

Moreover, the claim of "most viewing minutes" and "most-watched series in history" are two different concepts. To substantiate the latter claim, it must be clarified what criteria are included in the audience: the number of unique users, viewing frequency, average viewing time per episode, or total viewing time. Without these definitions, comparing records with other works will not be possible.

On the other hand, the number of episodes and the duration of release also impact the valuation of these statistics. Badnam has been released in 27 episodes, while comparing a long series with a shorter one requires precise data. For a fair evaluation, the average viewing time per episode, the duration of each episode, and the method of accurate counting must be specified.

Ultimately, the main issue is not the publication of statistics itself but how it is presented and its transparency. If Filimo can provide accurate information about the calculation method and comparison criteria, not only will Badnam's success be better recognized, but it will also allow for comparison with other works for the audience.
