Aref, the First Vice President of Iran, expressed his views on the country's approach to crisis situations following the recent 40-day war. He referred to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, stating that Iran has always sought peace and stability in the region and has exercised its inherent right to legitimate defense.

Developments of the 40-Day War

The 40-day war has rekindled the pain of many Iranians and other nations as a major crisis in the region. In a time when insecurity and instability have spread in many parts of the world, Aref stated in his remarks that Iran has always strived to resolve issues through diplomacy and dialogue. He emphasized that the desire of the Iranian people has always been peace, and based on this, the Islamic Republic of Iran is in no way seeking confrontation and war.

Right to Legitimate Defense and Iran's Peaceful Intentions

Aref, referring to the principle of the right to legitimate defense, stated that Iran, as an independent country, is obligated to defend itself against any threats, but this defense is never synonymous with warmongering. He said, "Iran always prefers peace over confrontation and has always sought peaceful solutions in this regard." These remarks come at a time when the international community is deeply concerned about the rising tensions in the region.

In this context, Aref referred to Iran's diplomatic efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and stated that the Islamic Republic has always sought to create bridges of communication with neighboring countries and other global powers. He added that diplomacy and interaction with countries can help reduce tensions and create sustainable security.

These statements somewhat reflect Iran's new approach in the international arena. While some countries seek to escalate tensions and conflicts, Iran, emphasizing the principles of peacefulness and diplomacy, is trying to garner global support and create a favorable environment for international cooperation.
