Anthropic has defined the boundaries of cloud usage with the announcement of its new policies. From November 12, 2026, intentional abuse of cloud AI will be prohibited. This decision comes in response to concerns about repeated abuses of AI.

Defining Boundaries of Criticism and Abuse

In these new policies, Anthropic has made a distinction between constructive criticism and intentional abuse. According to this policy, users who seek to correct incorrect responses from the cloud or are testing its performance for research purposes will be exempt from this prohibition. In fact, behaviors that are intended solely to abuse the cloud are the target of these restrictions.

Political and Social Prohibitions

Another part of the changes relates to preventing political and social abuses. Specifically, the use of the cloud to manage fake accounts or fabricated news media aimed at directing public opinion is prohibited. This restriction also includes political activities and businesses.

Anthropic has also clarified the rules regarding elections, stating that the use of the cloud to deceive voters or impersonate candidates is not allowed. Instead, the company has decided to lift a broad ban on personalized targeting in political campaigns so that some useful activities, such as providing voting guides in different languages, are not disrupted. However, deceiving voters or using users' personal information for targeting remains prohibited.

Security Restrictions

In the realm of security, Anthropic has emphasized that the cloud should not assist in the creation of code or equipment used for weapons, including mounting weapons on drones. Additionally, monitoring individuals without their consent and assisting the police in identifying individuals who should be targeted for legal actions has been restricted. However, legal research and journalism remain permitted.

These changes do not mean greater restrictions for ordinary users. They can still engage in discussions and criticism with the cloud and even express dissatisfaction. Anthropic has also emphasized that in sensitive decision-making in health, finance, and legal matters, it is necessary for a qualified individual to review and amend AI recommendations.

Ultimately, these policies aim to clarify the boundaries of responsible AI usage. With this action, Anthropic seeks to prevent political and security abuses while maintaining the possibility of normal and constructive use of AI for users.
