Alireza Zakani, the Mayor of Tehran, announced the start of a new approach by the municipality to support citizens during a meeting with the Council of Mayors of Tehran Municipality. Zakani emphasized the importance of citizens' livelihoods and stated that one of the main focuses of the municipality's activities in the coming weeks will be to support citizens' lives.

Livelihood; The Main Focus of the Municipality's New Program

Zakani identified the first subject of this program as "livelihood" and added: "In this plan, 12 essential goods will be provided to citizens at fixed prices for a period of six months." Approximately 9 million and 600 thousand Tehran citizens will be targeted in this plan, with items such as meat, rice, oil, legumes, pasta, and other essential household goods being offered in specified packages. Additionally, the price of chicken will remain fixed for a six-month period.

Zakani explained that to advance this goal, 18 Shahrvand stores and 108 fruit and vegetable markets across Tehran are ready to serve citizens. This plan requires extensive logistical operations, and the financial and economic department, municipal regions, and the Shahrvand network will cooperate in its implementation.

Infrastructure Development for Public Gatherings

Zakani also referred to the necessity of developing infrastructure for public gatherings in 352 locations in Tehran and said: "The highest infrastructural costs for gatherings are in the areas of sound and lighting, and a clear framework must be established to provide minimum facilities in various parts of the city." He added: "Our goal is to transform gatherings from merely operational events into a form of grassroots institution; meaning that the management of the gathering should be with the people, while the municipality provides the necessary services and infrastructure."

Zakani pointed out the need for coherence and continuity among different regions in supporting gatherings, stating: "Each region must have a clear roadmap for this issue, and its status should be assessed based on precise indicators and information." He also emphasized that in some neighborhoods, local gatherings are weakening and serious measures need to be taken regarding this issue.

Support for Producers and Families

The Mayor of Tehran mentioned the direct sale of producers' products in six regions and said: "In these areas, producers can sell their products directly without intermediaries." The aim is for goods to be sold at prices lower than market prices and even below the prices at the markets. Zakani also referred to supportive programs for mothers and children, adding: "For mothers in the lower income brackets, shopping cards will be charged for markets and Shahrvand stores."

Zakani further noted the low birth rate in Tehran, stating: "Last year, about 63 thousand births were registered in Tehran, while according to set goals, we need to work to increase the birth rate." He also mentioned urban management programs in the housing sector and reported the identification of 211 plots covering over 600 hectares for residential projects.
