Abdol-Motahar Mohammadkhani, in an interview with Hamshahri TV, elaborated on the actions of the Tehran Municipality to support people's livelihoods. He rejected political speculations and emphasized that the implementation of these plans in the country's wartime conditions aims to reduce the economic pressure on the people.

The Necessity of Joint Actions in the Current Situation

Mohammadkhani stated: "The municipality heard the President's call for help, and this is a religious, national, and ethical duty." According to him, in a time when public livelihoods are under pressure, people have no tolerance for political disputes, and the municipality must strengthen national cohesion through tangible services.

The Municipality's Legal Duty in Market Regulation

Abdol-Motahar Mohammadkhani further referred to the criticisms raised regarding the municipality's duties and said: "If the municipality has no duty in market regulation and price stabilization, then what is the purpose of the network of fruit and vegetable markets?" He added: "These infrastructures are not ordinary distribution centers; they are strategic assets of the city for hard days."

Mohammadkhani emphasized the legal backing of the municipality's actions, stating that in times of crisis and emergency, the Tehran Municipality is obliged to act as a buffer for livelihoods through bulk purchases and direct imports of goods. He said: "This action is not only legal but also an immediate response to the requirements of passive defense in the economic war."

Significant Progress in Infrastructure Projects

The head of the Tehran Municipality referred to significant progress in infrastructure projects and said: "During the most challenging period of sanctions and wartime conditions, the pace of the city's infrastructure projects has broken records." He added: "The volume of buses entering the public transportation fleet during this tense period is more than 1.5 times the total achievements of the fifth term of urban management."

Expert Plans for Market Engineering

Mohammadkhani also mentioned expert plans for market engineering and said: "This plan started in late Farvardin with coordination at the highest executive levels." He emphasized that one of the fundamental principles of this plan is the non-direct intervention of the municipality in the public supply market. He added: "The municipality does not enter the market as a small or large buyer to prevent shortages and price increases for other citizens."

Mohammadkhani highlighted three operational axes of this plan, including dismantling intermediary networks, entering into forward contracts, and managing the direct import of strategic items as significant actions in this regard. He also referred to the import of new buses and the use of advanced equipment for the metro, stating: "The municipality has shown that supporting livelihoods and enhancing infrastructure are two sides of the same coin, and neither will be sacrificed for the other."
