Abbasali Nobakht, the head of the Parks and Green Spaces Organization of Tehran Municipality, elaborated on the situation of tree drying in the capital and the existing challenges in creating green spaces during a press conference. He emphasized the importance of the issue, explaining that to manage this crisis appropriately, a management triangle has been formed, including green spaces, the public, and the Parks Organization.
Formation of a technical committee to investigate the causes of drying
Nobakht continued, "We have now formed a technical committee whose members include university specialists, implementation specialists, and specialists from the Forest and Rangeland Research Institute." He also referred to the existing problems regarding tree drying, stating that this issue dates back about four decades and is not solely due to water scarcity.
He added, "We have established communication with reputable universities such as Isfahan University of Technology, and based on research, we have found that 21 factors are involved in the drying of Tehran's trees. We hope to discuss these issues in detail in future meetings." Nobakht also pointed out that this topic requires time and in-depth investigation, and more information will be provided in the future.
Challenges in creating green spaces in endowed areas
Nobakht, in response to questions about the lack of parks in the Farouzeh and Imams neighborhoods, said: "The lands in question face legal issues due to their endowed status, and resources must be allocated to purchase land for creating green spaces." He also referred to the warnings from Mozaffar in this regard and emphasized the need to respond to supervisory bodies.
The head of the Parks and Green Spaces Organization of Tehran Municipality ultimately urged officials and the public to pay attention to this issue and stated that this organization is striving to provide a better environment for Tehran in collaboration with the public and various institutions. He concluded by expressing hope that with the use of existing expertise and effective communication, they can help solve these challenges.
