Abbas Soroush, President of Tehran University, at the memorial ceremony for the late "Siamak Moradian," a veteran professor at the Faculty of Polymer Engineering and Color of this university, noted the coincidence of this ceremony with the beginning of autumn and the diversity of colors in nature, stating: This coincidence can be seen as a fortunate coincidence for commemorating a dear person whose expertise and life have been intertwined with color.
Memorial for Siamak Moradian and His Characteristics
He referred to a booklet prepared in memory of Moradian, saying: Today, despite my busy schedule, I read this booklet almost entirely, and its contents were fascinating to me. In this booklet, students and colleagues expressed characteristics such as being cheerful, good-natured, and interactive, and collaborating with students about him.
The President of Amir Kabir University stated that perhaps some of these characteristics were innate, adding: However, it seems that Dr. Moradian's engagement with the subject of color and various colors has influenced his moral characteristics.
The Importance of Human Capital and Human Relations
Soroush considered the preparation of memorial booklets for professors and university colleagues a valuable action and said: Creating such works is a very good endeavor. Of course, if we can hold such ceremonies during the lifetime of the professors as well.
He further emphasized the importance of human capital, stating: I have often said that our main asset is human capital, and this asset is at the top of the assets that we must preserve and care for.
The President of Amir Kabir University continued: Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to know Dr. Moradian closely, but this booklet and the heartfelt and unadorned quotes from students and colleagues familiarized me with his moral characteristics.
He identified one of Moradian's outstanding characteristics as his way of interacting with students, saying: He interacted with students in such a way that if someone from outside entered, they might not easily be able to distinguish who was the professor and who was the student.
Soroush stated that this characteristic is even more important in the current circumstances, adding: Especially considering the dangers that threaten our youth and the conditions that could be considered among the most critical, the need for such a relationship between professors and students is felt more.
The President of Amir Kabir University continued by referring to the status of the teaching profession, saying: If you want to harvest a product in one year, become a farmer; if you want to harvest a product over several years, become a gardener; and if you want to have a product for your lifetime, become a teacher.
He noted Dr. Moradian's life and educational background, stating: It seems that he had an extraordinary sense of patriotism. Someone who left the country at the age of 13 and returned immediately after finishing his studies to work in Iran, considering the conditions the country has faced, seems to have a deep love and bond with his homeland.
Soroush concluded his remarks by saying: We take pride in being at a university that has been a place of service and nurturing professors like Moradian. The professors present in this hall all hold a place of respect for me, and I am proud that despite all the difficulties that this position and responsibility entail, God and friends and colleagues have given me the opportunity to serve professors and especially dear youth and students.
